After New Zealand, we spent four nights in Dubai with some of my dearest friends Tiffany and Derek. Tiffany and Derek have been living in Dubai for the last year, and although it hasn't been their favorite place in the world, I think that they will one day look back fondly of the time they spent there... if only because one usually grows the most when they are challenged the most. Dubai is a strange place in that it's a non-Western culture which has adapted the parts of Western culture I dislike most: flashiness and materialism. In the end though, Dubai for me was about visiting friends. And in that way, Dubai did not disappoint! Fantastic company, a little bit of pool time, and a memorable desert safari. Cheers to that!
